History

Marquee Venture Partners, LLC (“MVP Advisors”) was started by Ken Wheeler and Bill Wheeler, Jr — two former Division 1 basketball athletes who played at Yale University and Manhattan College respectively. Affectionately known as the Wheeler Brothers, they saw a need to get involved in the Sports Marketing and Branding industry as Bill’s son (Aaron Wheeler) navigated playing at Purdue University and then St. John’s University. With the advent of Name, Image and Likeness legislation (NIL) finally becoming a reality in July 2021, we believed that our Firm could help Business owners and Athletes navigate this new world. Our goals in the beginning were straightforward: build a Company that would ultimately have an alignment of interest with its clients and help them navigate this “new world” in college athletics. Moreover, we wanted to keep the welfare of Student-Athletes at the core of our mission by facilitating successful partnerships with Brands and Business Owners. That is why MVP has been hired by Power 5 NIL Collectives and other Colleges and Universities including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (“HBCUs”). MVP can help bridge the gap for Brand Partners who need help amplifying their messaging by building these partnerships with Student-Athletes — who have a reach and social impact beyond the number of followers they have online.
